Digital Day in NYC (January)

Members learned more about tech-related careers and had the opportunity to network with professionals in the industry. We visited Microsoft and startup incubator Dogpatch Labs, which is sponsored by VC fund Polaris Ventures.

Shaun Abrahamson on Crowdsourcing (November)

Members gathered in Huntsman Hall to hear Shaun Abrahamson, investor and innovator at Colaboratorie Mutopo, discuss his work and social media interests. Shaun has worked for a number of early stage organizations, including www.daylife.com, www.gametrust.com and www.starmedia.com, as an investor and advisor. At Colaboratorie Mutopo, Shaun’s team investigates what he calls “Mass Collaboration,” utilizing the power of the masses to develop products and ideas that have broad, long-lasting appeal. During his talk, Shaun defined Mass Collaboration, discussing the real-world applications of it for product development. Examples included local-motors.com, Jovoto.com, Threadless.com, and the Triple8.com helmet competition.

Social Media in the Marketplace w/ @ComcastCares (November)

We proudly hosted a session with Frank Eliason, Senior Director in National Customer Operations at Comcast in November ‘09. Frank spoke about the importance of brands embracing social media and shared his strategy for managing channels like Twitter, message boards, and blog posts.

Meetup w/ Andrew Chun of CBS Interactive (November 23)

Andrew Chun, Wharton MBA grad and product manager at CBS Interactive, sat down with a small group of IMG members for an intimate talk to discuss the changing face of digital media strategy. Over a cup of coffee and some gelato, Chun shared his experience working with some of the biggest media companies in the world, including CBS Interactive, Verizon Wireless, ESPN Digital Media, AOL Sports and more. 

Talk w/ serial entrepreneur Russ Fradin

Russ Fradin is the CEO and co-founder of Adify, a vertical online ad platform (clients include Forbes.com, Martha Stewart Omnimedia, and Guardian). Russ came to speak with IMG members about his experience at Penn and his career leading up to his startup. He gave advice on building a team, raising venture capital, and finding attractive opportunities in our casual hangout spot of choice– Capogiro.

Google Full Time Recruiting Information Session (October 7, 6:30pm)

This is an information session made exclusively available to participants of IMG and MUSE interested in hearing more about non-engineering, business-related full-time opportunities. In particular, they are looking for seniors who are looking to pursue a position with Product Marketing as part of their RAMP Program. In typical Google fashion, plenty of food and giveaways will be provided.

Google Private Coffee Chats (October 8 )

Google held coffee chats with select IMG members to discuss internship and full-time opportunities in business and engineering roles.

Breakfast with Joseph Ansanelli (October)

An intimate member-only breakfast with W’92 alum and tech entrepeneur Joseph Ansanelli. Members will have the opportunity to ask advice on starting their own ventures as well as questions about where the industry is heading.
